MG To Launch ZS Petrol SUV and A New MPV In India

MG Motors is all set to introduce the Hector facelift and the 7-seater version of the Hector Plus in the country in January 2021. Additionally, the British automaker will introduce the ZS mid-sized SUV and an all-new MPV in the country in the next 1-2 years. In fact, the MG ZS mid-sized SUV has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads.

A new media report claims that MG Motors will launch the ZS SUV in the mid-2021, before Diwali. Adding to it, the company could launch an MPV in the country in early 2022. For people not in the know, MG had showcased the G10 full-sized MPV as well as the 360M mid-sized MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is unclear which MPV will be launched in our market. We believe that MG could opt for the 360M, which will be positioned against the Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming MPVs from Hyundai and Kia Motors.

MG ZS Petrol

MG Motors will launch the petrol version of the ZS SUV, which will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. The company will introduce the updated ZS SUV, which was introduced in select international markets in July, 2020. The new model will have a new hexagonal grille with chrome surround, new bumper and LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, new rear bumper and new LED signature for tail-lamps.

The new MG ZS comes equipped with a larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a revised piano-style control buttons on the centre console for audio, and air-conditioning. It will have digital instrument console, 360 degree camera, navigation system, MG iSmart connected car technology, panoramic sunroof, air purifier, cruise control, powered driver’s seat, multi-functional steering wheel, etc. The mid-sized SUV is likely to receive a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The performance oriented version could receive the 160PS, 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

MG 360M Prices

Talking about the MG 360M, the new MPV is 4,615mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,660mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. With second and third row seats folded down, the 360M offers a luggage carrying capacity of 1,350-litres. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine produces 103PS of power and 135Nm of torque.

The MG G10 MPV will be positioned between the Toyota Innova and the Kia Carnival in terms of pricing. The 2021 Maxus G10 (MG G10) has been offered with 8-seats layout along with the 7-seats and 9-seats configurations. The new MPV is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine that produces 163bhp and 375Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic unit.
