MG Motors to Launch 3 New 7-Seater Cars in 1 Year

MG Motors will launch the Hector Plus 6-seater, Gloster 7-seater and the G10 premium MPV in India

MG Motors is planning to launch 4-5 new cars and SUVs in the Indian market by the end of 2021. What’s more interesting is that the company will launch 3 big UVs in the next 1 year in our market. MG will introduce the Hector Plus 6-seater SUV in June, which will be followed by the Gloster 8-seater SUV before Diwali 2020.

MG Hector Plus Launch Date

MG Motors will also launch the G10 MPV in the Indian market in early 2021. The new model will be positioned against the Kia Carnival. Previous media reports claim that the new MPV will be launched in the country in March 2021. The new model will be offered in 3 seating layouts – 7/8 and 9-seats. The new model is 50mm longer and 173mm taller than the Carnival.

The MG G10 MPV is likely to be powered by a 2.0L Twin-turbo diesel engine, which will also power the upcoming Gloster SUV. This is basically the twin-turbocharged version of the FCA’s 2.0L MJD engine. This engine is capable of producing 218bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. MG will aim to undercut the prices of the Kia Carnival. In terms of pricing, the new G10 MPV will be positioned between the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Carnival.

MG G10 India Launch

The MG Hector Plus is basically the three-row version of the Hector 5-seater. It will be offered with 6- and 7-seat options. Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the new Hector Plus gets subtle design changes in the form of revised front grille, updated bumper, new alloy wheels and revised tail-lamp design.

The Hector Plus will come with bench-type second row of seats for the 7-seater version and captain second row seats for the 6-seater model. It will share the mechanics with the 5-seater sibling, which is available with 3 engine options –  a 1.5L turbo petrol, a 1.5L petrol with 48V mild-hybrid setup and a 2.0L diesel.

MG Gloster launch

Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the MG Gloster will be the brand’s flagship model in the Indian market. Measuring above 5 meters in length, the MG Gloster will come as a premium alternative to the likes of Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Likely to be priced around Rs 40 lakh, the Gloster will be assembled at SAIC’s Halol based plant in Gujarat.

For people not in the know, the MG Gloster is basically the re-badged Maxus D90 currently on sale in the Chinese market. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.
