MG Motors and Kia to launch 8 new SUVs, MPVs in India

Despite being slowdown, SUVs are still gaining huge popularity in the Indian auto market. In fact, the utility vehicle segment is expected to beat the hatchback segment by the end of 2020. It is reported that MG Motors and Kia Motors will launch 8 new utility vehicles in the Indian market in the next 3 years.

MG Motors started its journey with the Hector 5-seater premium SUV, which received exceptional response from buyers. Similarly, Kia entered in our market with the Seltos SUV. The Kia Seltos has been receiving overwhelming response from buyers and the bookings of the SUV have already crossed over 50,000 in just 2-3 months.

MG Baojun RS-3

MG Motors is readying 4 new utility vehicles for the Indian market. The company will launch the 7-seater Hector and the e-ZS electric SUV in the country in the early 2020. Adding to it, MG is also planning to launch a 5-seater compact SUV to challenge the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. It was reported MG Motors could bring the Maxus D90 SUV in the country. This SUV will challenge the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Skoda Kodiaq.

Kia Motors is readying a sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed QYi. The sub-4 meter SUV will make global debut at the Auto Expo 2020. It will challenge the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

Kia Grand Carnival 2020 Auto Expo

The Korean brand will also launch the Carnival 7-seater premium MPV in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2020, most probably at the Auto Expo 2020. Adding to it, the Korean brand could launch a mid-sized SUV in the country. The recent reports suggest that Kia is also considering the Sorento and Telluride SUV for the Indian market.
