MG Motor India Sales Declined By 22% To 2,008 Units In April 2022

MG Motor India is facing semi-conductor chips shortage, which has significantly impacted its sales in the country. The company has recorded sales of 2,008 units in April 2022, which is 22% decline compared to the same month last year. MG Motor India had sold 2,565 units in April last year.

MG Motor India claims that the production remained volatile and immensely impacted by the global supply chain constraints due to the sudden & new COVID-19 lockdowns in different parts of the world.

2022 MG Hector Features

MG Motor India claims that the demand for the Hector, Astor and Gloster continue to report positive momentum in enquiries and bookings. The company said that it is closely monitoring the situation caused by the new COVID waves and is aligning its efforts to address it.

The recently launched new MG ZS EV is also receiving strong response from customers. The company claims to have record over 1000 bookings month on month, To further strengthen the EV ecosystem and enhance customer confidence toward EV adoption, MG Motor has partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to accelerate the set-up of EV charging infrastructure across the country.

Upcoming MG Electric Crossover

The company has officially announced to launch an all-electric vehicle in the country before the end of this financial year. The new model will be an electric crossover vehicle based on a global platform but customised for the Indian market. Set to target masses, the new MG electric crossover will be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh.

It is likely to be a sub-4 meter crossover, which will be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Mahindra eXUV300. The new model is likely to offer an electric range of over 300kms.
