MG Motors will have 65 dealerships across 50 major cities across India

The much-anticipated MG Hector premium SUV will officially make its global debut on May 15, 2019. The company has started commercial production of the SUV at its Halol plant in Gujarat. Official bookings for the Hector SUV will commence in June, 2019. The SUV is reportedly to be launched in the first half of June 2019.

MG Motors will start dispatching the SUV to its dealerships post May 15, 2019. The company will have 65 dealerships across 50 major cities across India. The MG Hector is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530 SUV, which is on sale in China. However, the company claims that more than 300+ India specific changes have been carried out in the Hector to suit the customer preferences and road conditions.

MG Motors claimed that the Hector SUV is equipped with cutting-edge technology and is designed to deliver best-in-class performance and features. Claimed to be India’s first internet car, the MG Hector comes equipped with the next-gen iSMART technology that promises to deliver safe, connected and fun experiences to customers. The SUV features the segment-largest 10.4-inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of styling, the MG Hector SUV gets a large chrome-laden hexagonal grille with dual headlamp setup with slip LED daytime running lights on top and main headlamps and fog lamps lower on the bumper. At the back, the SUV gets the LED tail-lights with a light strip between the taillamps to form a single unit. The SUV sports a chrome tailgate garnish, dual-tone bumper with silver inserts, roof integrated spoiler and dual-tone alloy wheels. The MG Hector is loaded with high-end features like largest panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable driver seat, etc.

The MG Hector SUV will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel. The petrol engine is also available with a mild-hybrid system, which is claimed to be 12% more fuel efficient than the standard variant. The gasoline engine is capable of producing 143bhp and 250Nm, while the oil burner is good for 171bhp and 350Nm of torque.
