The MG Hector will officially go on sale in the country in the first half of June 2019.

The much-awaited MG Hector SUV will make its India debut on May 15, 2019. The company will also start taking pre-orders for the SUV on the same day. MG will start its India innings with close to 50 dealerships with around 120 touchpoints across major cities. The MG Hector will officially go on sale in the country in the first half of June 2019. The SUV will challenge the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.

MG Hector is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530, which is already on sale in China. It features the large chrome-laden grille and dual headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs on top and main headlamps lower on the bumper. Other design highlights include brushed aluminum faux skid plates, LED tail-lights, sloping roof, diamond-cut alloys and large panoramic sunroof. The MG Hector will be longest SUV in its category. The MG Hector is called India’s first Internet Car. It features a large 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The SUV comes with a range of connectivity features like real-time traffic with navigation, car health status, over the air updates, e-call emergency response and iSmart mobile application. Other high-end features will include leather upholstery, 360-degree camera, start-stop button, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, etc.

The MG Hector will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre MJD diesel. While the former is good for 143bhp and 250Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 173bhp and 350Nm of torque. The SUV will also receive the segment-first 48V mild-hybrid system version. This model is claimed to be around 12% more fuel efficient than the regular petrol model.
