Clear interior and exterior images of the India-spec MG Hector have been leaked on the internet. The SUV will make its official debut on May 15, 2019, while launch is scheduled in the first half of June.
The MG Hector is the re-engineered Baojun 530, which is on sale in the Chinese market. It comes with a large chrome-ladden hexagonal grille with dual headlamp setup with slip LED daytime running lights on top and main headlamps and fog lamps lower on the bumper. The C-shaped chrome surround on the headlight cluster gives it a premium look. At the back, the MG Hector gets the wraparound LED tail-lights with a chrome tail gate garnish and dual-tone bumper with silver inserts. It features roof integrated spoiler and dual-tone alloys.
Inside the cabin, the MG Hector has dual-tone scheme with leather upholstery. The dual-tone dashboard has beige leather and silver trim. The SUV gets 10.4-inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes with a leather wrapped 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a twin-pod instrument console with a large MID in the centre, leather trim on the door panels, 60:40 split rear seats, three adjustable headrests and a centre armrest. The MG Hector SUV will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel. While the former is good for 143bhp and 250Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 171bhp and 350Nm of torque. The petrol version will also come with a 48V mild hybrid system, which is claimed to be 12% more fuel efficient than the regular model.
