MG Motors will officially launch the long-awaited MG Hector SUV in the Indian market in June 2019. Official bookings for the SUV will commence from June, though dealers have started taking pre-orders. The production of the Hector has also been started at the SAIC’s Halol based plant in Gujarat. The MG Hector will challenge the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500.

In terms of proportions, the MG Hector is the longest in its category. It measures 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Not just length, the Hector comes with the longest wheelbase in the category. This clearly suggests that the new model offers the spacious cabin to accommodate 5 adults comfortably. While the Harrier is 4,598mm long, 1,894mm wide, 1,714mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,741mm, the Mahindra XUV500 measures 4,585mm x 1,890mm x 1,785mm in length, width and height respectively. The XUV500 comes with a wheelbase of 2700mm.
