The MG Hector comes with a boot space of 587-litres, which is again the segment-best.
MG Motors will officially launch the long-awaited MG Hector SUV in the Indian market in June 2019. Official bookings for the SUV will commence from June, though dealers have started taking pre-orders. The production of the Hector has also been started at the SAIC’s Halol based plant in Gujarat. The MG Hector will challenge the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500.
In terms of proportions, the MG Hector is the longest in its category. It measures 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Not just length, the Hector comes with the longest wheelbase in the category. This clearly suggests that the new model offers the spacious cabin to accommodate 5 adults comfortably. While the Harrier is 4,598mm long, 1,894mm wide, 1,714mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,741mm, the Mahindra XUV500 measures 4,585mm x 1,890mm x 1,785mm in length, width and height respectively. The XUV500 comes with a wheelbase of 2700mm.
The large dimensions also help MG Motors to create more space for luggage. The MG Hector comes with a boot space of 587-litres, which is again the segment-best. Its closest rivals – Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500 offers 425-litres, 438-litres and 405-litres of boot space respectively. Though, Tata Harrier offers the maximum ground clearance stands at 205mm. The MG Hector comes with a ground clearance of 192mm, while the Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass offer 200mm and 178mm of ground clearance respectively.
