MG Motor Company is all set to launch the much-awaited Hector SUV in the Indian market. Likely to be launched in May or June 2019, the new MG Hector SUV is called the Internet Car that is equipped with Advanced ‘iSmart’ in-car tech. The company has already revealed the exterior images of the Hector SUV, while interior images are yet to be revealed by the automaker.

The production of the new MG Hector SUV have already been started at the SAIC’s Halol based plant in Gujarat. The SUV is basically the re-badged Baojun 530, which is currently on sale in the Chinese market. In fact, the new Chevrolet Captiva and Wuling Almaz SUVs are also based on the Baojun 530. Some of the exterior design highlights of the MG Hector includes hexagonal grille with chrome surround, dual-split headlamps with LED DRLs, aluminum skid plate at the bottom of the lower bumper, squared wheel arches, machine-cut alloys, blackened pillars, single-piece LED tail-light, integrated roof spoiler, shark fin antenna and skid plate on the bumper.

The MG Hector SUV is claimed to be the most advanced in its category. The SUV is fitted with the segment-largest 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment with TomTom IQ Maps navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Vodafone eSIM. Other high end features include 360 degree camera, largest panoramic sunroof, automatic air-conditioning, leather seats, etc.

The MG Hector SUV will be available in petrol and diesel guise. The gasoline version gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled to a 48V battery, which makes it the only petrol-hybrid model in its category. This engine produces 143bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel version will get the new 2.0-litre engine, which will be sourced from FCA. This engine is likely to produce 173bhp and 350Nm.
