MG Motor India is reportedly to unveil the much-awaited Hector SUV in April 2019. Likely to be launched in June 2019, the MG Hector SUV will challenge the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the Tata Harrier. While the official details are yet to be revealed, a close-to-production model was recently seen during a TV commercial shoot with actor Benedict Cumberbatch at the wheel.

The MG Hector is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530 SUV, which is on sale in the Chinese market. In fact, the new Chevrolet Captiva on sale in select international markets is based on the Baojun 530. MG Motor has made subtle changes to give the SUV a family look. It features the signature grille with honeycomb grille and chrome enhancement and a large ‘MG’ badge at the centre. Chrome treatment can be seen on the front bumpers, while the bumpers come fitted with a brushed aluminum faux skid plate.
