MG Hector Records 3,526 Units Sales In 2 Months
Within its two months of arrival, the British carmaker has managed to sell a total of 3,526 units of the MG Hector SUV in India. In July and August 2019, the SUV registered sales of 15,000 units and 2,018 units respectively.
In order to ensure on-time delivery, the carmaker temporarily closed Hector’s bookings. Even after that, the company registered over 11,000 additional customers on its priority wait list.
MG Motor India will re-open bookings for the Hector later this year. It will increase the SUV’s production to 3,000 units per month at its Halol plant. The British carmaker is working to mark its presence in regions accounting around 80% of the midsize SUV sales in India by the end of this month (September, 2019).
The carmaker aims to increase its touch points to 250, primarily covering tier I, tier II and tier III cities. Read – MG Hector 7-Seater SUV Coming Soon
The MG Hector SUV comes with a 141bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol (BS6-complaint), a 168bhp, 2.0L diesel (BS4-compliant) and a petrol-hybrid engine options. The carmaker will introduce the BS6-ready diesel engine on the SUV lineup by the early next year.
The second product from the British carmaker in India will be the MG eZS electric SUV. Earlier, it was scheduled to launch in December 2019. It’s now postponed to early next year. Initially, the eZS will be offered across five cities including Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
