MG Hector Plus, which is slated to launch on 13th July, will be the third product from the British carmaker in the country. Initially, the SUV will be offered with 6-seats layout. Its 7-seater version will come later. The model lineup will come in three trims – Super, Smart and Sharp – and 6 colour options, namely, Starry Sky Blue, Candy White, Burgundy Red, Glaze Red, Aurora Silver and Starry Black. Official bookings of the Hector Plus have already been commenced at a token sum of Rs 50,000.
As mentioned above, the official price announcement will be made on coming July 13. It’s likely to be around Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the Hector 5-seater. Reports suggest that the MG Hector Plus might be priced between Rs 16 lakh – Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). If it happens, MG’s new 6-seater SUV will give a tough challenge to the upcoming Tata Gravitas that’s likely to cost from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom).
The higher trims of the Hector Plus will be put up against the Toyota Innova Cyrsta. The latter one is currently available in the price range of Rs 15.66 lakh – Rs 23.63 lakh (ex-showroom). That said, the new MG 6-seater SUV will come as an affordable option for the Innova Crysta. One must note that these are estimated prices. Final figures might be different.
The Hector Plus will share its powertrains with the Hector 5-seater – i.e. 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol, 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system and 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel. While the petrol and hybrid powertrains are good enough for 143bhp and 250Nm, the oil burner makes 170bhp with 350Nm. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed manual (hybrid and diesel) and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (petrol only).
Design and styling of the MG Hector Plus is slightly different than its younger sibling. In fact, it’s longer and more spacious than the Hector 5-seater. The carmaker has equipped the 6-seater SUV with some extra features including the hands free tailgate opening system.
