MG Hector Plus Launch Confirmed For the Next Month

Morris Garages is all set to expand its Indian product portfolio with the all-new MG Hector Plus 6/7-seater SUV. Replying to a tweet, the carmaker has confirmed that the new SUV will hit showrooms in the month of July. Initially, the model will be made available with the 6-seats layout featuring captain seats for the second row passengers. Its 7-seater version with bench seats (60:40 split ratio) in the middle row will be rolled out by the end of this year.

Estimated to be priced from Rs 14 lakh, the Hector Plus will take head-to-head against the Tata Gravitas that’s due for this festive season. The carmaker also aims to position it as an affordable alternative to the top-spec Toyota Innova Crysta variants. It’s likely to be around Rs 3 lakh less expensive than Innova Crysta.

A few design changes made it look slightly different than the Hector 5-seater. The upcoming 6/7-seater SUV carries an all-black grille without chrome surround at the front end. The headlamps and fog lamps have a new triangular design, while the LED DRLs looks thicker. The front bumper has also been revised. You can notice LED light bar on tailgate and the slightly repositioned reverse light and reflectors. Read – MG Motors to Launch 3 New 7-Seater Cars in 1 Year

In order to accommodate an extra row of seat, the carmaker has increased its length by 40mm. The Hector Plus measures 4695mm in length, 1835mm in width and 1760mm in height with a wheelbase of 2750mm. Most of the features will be carried over from the Hector 5-seater. MG’s new SUV is likely to come with a 10.4-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, an Infinity sound system, cruise control and climate control.

The MG Hector Plus can be had with three different engines borrowed from its younger sibling. That said, it will come with a 170bhp, 2.0L diesel, 143bhp, 1.5L petrol and 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. Though, the automatic transmission will be restricted to the petrol variants only.
