MG Hector Plus 6-Seater In Summer, 7-Seater Around Diwali 2020

Morris Garages recently unveiled the MG Hector Plus SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. The three-row version of the Hector will be offered with 6-seats and 7-seats configuration featuring captain seats and bench-type seats in the second row respectively. While the MG Hector Plus 6-seater will hit showrooms in summer, the 7-seater version will be launched during 2020 festive season (near around Diwali).

The MG Hector Plus 6-seater third row seats will come have 50:50 split ratio and the 7-seater model will come with 60:40 split bench seats. Both versions will come with the 2.0L diesel and 1.5L turbo petrol engines borrowed from the 5-seater Hector. The oil burner delivers power worth 170PS and 350Nm, and the gasoline motor makes 143PS and 250Nm. While a 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, a 6-speed DCT will be offered exclusively with the petrol engine.

Minor cosmetic changes have been made to the three-row Hector. The model gets thicker LED DRLs, an all-black grille without chrome surround, revised front bumper, headlamps and fog lamps with new triangular design and LED light bar on tailgate. Compared to the 5-seater Hector, the MG Hector Plus is 40mm longer. Inside, the model is likely to get an updated 10.4-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system. The higher trim could be exclusively offered with MG’s in-car connectivity suite and a panoramic roof.

Prices of the MG Hector Plus 6 and 7-seater models will be more or less similar. Both versions are likely to cost around Rs 1 lakh premium over the 5-seater Hector that’s available in the price range of Rs 12.73 lakh – Rs 17.43 lakh (ex-showroom).  Talking about competition, the SUV’s three-row variants will be put up against the upcoming new-generation Mahindra XUV500, Tata Gravitas and Ford’s XUV500 –based SUV.
