MG Motor India has rolled out the first software update for the Hector. The SUV’s iSmart infotainment system now gets the first ever over-the-air (OTA) ensuring quick services to customers. The MG Hector is equipped with a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with pre-loaded entertainment content. It offers multiple features such as Real-Time Navigation, Geo-Fencing, Emergency Response, Remote Location and Indian accented voice assist.
The system also has a first machine-to-machine embedded sim powered by Airtel with free internet connectivity under the warranty period. It also provides information such as tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), navigation (powered by TomTom) with live traffic alerts and smartphone connectivity. The British carmaker has ramped up production of the MG Hector from 1,500 units to 3,000 units per month. It could be further increased to 3,500 units, if demand continues to be high. Currently, the SUV commands a waiting period of up to 10 months that vary variant, colour and city wise.
The MG Hector comes with two powertrain options – a 2.0L diesel sourced from FCA and a 1.5L turbocharged petrol. While the former delivers 170bhp with 350Nm of torque, the latter one returns 143bhp with 250Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual (standard) and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (only on the turbo-petrol variants).
