MG eZS Electric SUV To Be Sold In 5 Cities; Launch In December

MG Motor India ties up with Fortum for installing EV charging stations in the country.

The British car manufacturer, MG Motor recently entered India with the Hector SUV that’s positioned against multiple products right from Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500 to Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Kia Seltos. The company has already announced that its second product for India will be MG eZS electric SUV that will see a release in December, 2019.

Initially, the MG eZS will be retailed in five cities including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Speaking to Autocar, Rajeev Chaba, president and MD, MG Motor India, revealed that the company will follow two-pronged approach instead waiting for “infrastructure to develop and then launch the car.”

Recently, MG Motor India ties up with Fortum for installing EV charging stations in the country. With this alliance, the carmaker aims to create DC fast charging infrastructure across five cities by September, 2019. One of the company’s state of the art flagship showrooms will be in Gurugram. These charging stations will meet the European CCS and the Japanese CHAdeMO charging standards. For its MG eZS buyers, the company will also collaborate with local partners for setting up home charging points. Though, it will cost you some additional bucks. The MG eZS SUV is claimed to deliver an electric range of 300km. It’s estimated to be priced around Rs 25 lakh and will be gun up against the Hyundai Kona electric SUV that’s ready to go on sale on 9th July, 2019.
