MG eZS Electric SUV Might Launch In Late 2019

The India-bound MG eZS recently unveiled at the Guangzhou Motor Show 2018.

MG Motor has already announced its plan for the Indian market. The company said its first product will hit roads in the second quarter of 2019 and the second launch will take place a year after the first car. While the official name of the vehicle is still under the wraps, reports suggest that it will be based on the Baojun 530 SUV and take on the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.

The British carmaker also confirmed that its second model will be an electric SUV. If reports are to be believed, it could the electric version of the ZS SUV. Recently, the India-bound MG eZS (production-ready) has been unveiled at the Guangzhou Motor Show 2018.

Visually, the MG eZS looks exactly similar to the conventional fuel-powered model. Though, features such as newly-designed five-spoke alloy wheels, charging port under the front grille, eZS badging and a new Blue paint scheme differentiate it from the regular model. Power for the MG eZS comes from an electric motor generating power worth 150hp. For the record, MG claims that it can do 0 to 50kmph in just 3.1 seconds. It offers an electric range of 428km at a constant speed of 60kmph. Aiming to price its vehicle competitively, MG Motor aims to achieve 75 percent localization for its first model in India. The company’s first SUV will be built at its Halol plant in Gujarat that has annual production capacity of 80,000 units. Depending on the requirement, the carmaker will further expand it up to 200,000 units in future.
