In India, Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain will take on Volvo V90 Cross Country.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the E-Class All-Terrain at the Auto Expo 2018. Alongside, the German carmaker also showcased the Mercedes Mayback S650, Mercedes S 560, Mercedes EQ electric car concept and Petronas F1. The Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain is likely to go on sale towards the end of this year. Once launched, the new high-riding variant of the SUV will face challenge from cars like Volvo V90 Cross Country and A6 All-Road Quattro.

In the Indian market, the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain will be made available in a single variant – E 220d 4MATIC. Powering this variant will be a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel motor paired to a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed G Tronic torque convertor. The power and torque figures of this engine stand at 194bhp and 400Nm respectively. Mercedes claims that the new all-terrain iteration of the SUV can achieve a top speed of 232kmph. What add more to its on and off-road capabilities are the 4matic four-wheel drive system, larger 19-inch tyres, high ground clearance and tweaked suspension.  While the height/width ratio of the tyres has been increased by 14mm, the ground clearance has been raised by 29mm. Furthermore, the driving level is 15mm higher than the regular model – thanks to its revised Air Body Control multi-chamber air suspension. On the exterior, the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain features a pronounced twin-fin front grille, dual tone front and rear bumper with faux skid plates, roof rails, black wheel arch cladding, exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels and integrated trapezoidal-shaped exhaust tails. Read About – Mercedes-Benz C Class Cabriolet and S-Class Cabriolet 

Minor updates have been made inside the cabin. It gets an exclusive aluminium carbon-fibre trim, ‘All-Terrain’ branded floor mats and stainless steel pedals. Similar to the new Mercedes SUVs, the E-Class All-Terrain 4X4 comes equipped with infotainment monitor that displays suspension level, brake and accelerator positioning, steering angle and slop and inclination angle.
