In July 2016, Mercedes-Benz India had announced to introduce petrol variants across its product lineup by this coming September. To make good on its promise, the German carmaker has introduced petrol version of its popular GLE SUV at Rs 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Out of twelve promised launches of the year, the Mercedes Benz GLE 400 petrol is the seventh product in the lineup. Now, Mercedes’ GLE SUV is available in a total of four variants – GLE 400, GLE 350 d, GLE 250 d and the performance-oriented GLE 450 AMG Coupe.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 petrol is a 3.0-litre V6 mill paired to a 7G-Tronic Plus transmission system. This engine delivers a claimed power of 328.5bhp at 5250rpm – 6000rpm and 480Nm of torque between 1600rpm – 4000rpm. The SUV comes with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, and offers a top speed of 247 kmph. Similar to its diesel counterpart, the Mercedes Benz GLE 400 petrol comes equipped with an 8-inch media display, 830 Watt Harman Kardon surround sound system, COMAND Online with New Generation Telematics and Apple CarPlay.

Safety features like six airbags, Active Parking Assist with 360-degree camera, Brake Assist, Attention Assist and Crosswind Assist are also on offer. The exterior design, too, remains unchanged. The car gets full LED headlamps with intelligent light system, LED tail lights, sunroof, mirror and other styling elements.

Commenting on the launch, Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Mercedes-Benz has the most comprehensive luxury SUV portfolio in the country. With the launch of the GLE 400 4MATIC, our discerning customers will now have the option of choosing between the petrol and the diesel version of our highest selling SUV. He further added, “For the first time, we are introducing the GLE with a petrol mill and this underscores our strategy of offering the right product for our growing customer base. This is the fourth SUV we have introduced this year.”
