Mercedes-Benz India will launch the much-anticipated GLA crossover by the festive season. The dealers have already started taking bookings for the crossover at a token amount of Rs. 1 lakh, while the deliveries are expected to commence from Sept-Oct. Media reports suggest that the bookings for the CLA 45 AMG will also commence in the coming months. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show; the GLA crossover will compete against the likes of Audi Q3 and BMW X1.[Also Read: Mercedes-Benz GLA engine specifications & features]
The Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover will come in two trim levels- 220 CDI and 200 Sport. The company has only started taking bookings for the diesel version- 220 CDI which is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 136bhp and a peak torque of 300Nm. The GLA 200 Sport variant will get the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 156bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both the engines will be paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
Mercedes-Benz India will also launch the diesel version of its flagship saloon- S Class in June. The company has also started taking bookings for this model at an initial amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
