Mercedes-Benz India is gearing up to launch its much-awaited GLA crossover in the country on September 30. The company will also introduce the GLA 45 AMG variant with Mercedes’ 4MATIC system, but this variant will be launched in October.
The GLA crossover will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox will come as standard, which transmits the power to front wheels of the car. The GLA 200, petrol model, is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine that is capable of producing a top power output of 181bhp at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 300Nm at 1,200-4,00rpm. The oil burner, GLA 200 CDI, is propelled by a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder motor that is rated at 135bhp at 3,4000rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1,400-3,000rpm.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA will compete against the likes of Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo V40 Cross Country. It is equipped with features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sliding roof, and 183mm of ground clearance, ARTICO upholstery, and rear seat armrest, seven airbags, Anti-Slip regulation, ABS, ESP, curve dynamic assist and Hill start assist.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover, dimensionally measures 4,417 mm in length, 1,804 mm in width, 1,494 mm in height and 2,699 mm in wheelbase. The car has a 421 liter boot, which is more than sufficient to accommodate 4 suitcases.
