Mercedes-Benz EQC Next Batch To Arrive In September 2021

Mercedes-Benz India rolled out its first electric SUV for India in October 2020. Priced at Rs 99.30 lakh (on-road), the model is initially made available in 6 cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. It’s brought in here via the CBU (completely built up) route and its first batch has already been sold out in the country. Now, the company has confirmed that the next batch of the Mercedes EQC electric SUV will arrive in September 2021. This time around, it will battle out with the Jaguar I-Pace and the upcoming Audi e-tron.

Compared to both its arch rivals, the Mercedes EQC is more powerful. The luxury electric SUV is powered by two asynchronous motors that return a combined power of 408bhp and 765Nm of torque. Sporting a 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the EQC promises a range of 400km (WLTP-certified) on a full charge. Its battery takes 21 hours to get fully charged via the standard power socket and 10 hours via 7.5kW wallbox charger provided by the company. It can also be charged through 50kW DC fast charger in 90 minutes. Mercedes EQC’s owners can access over 100 EQ charging stations across 48 cities.

Launched in March 2021, the Jaguar I-Pace comes in three variants (S, SE, HSE) priced between Rs 1.05 crore to Rs 1.12 crore. The electric SUV uses a 90kWh lithium-ion battery with two synchronous permanent magnet electric motors. It’s combined power and torque outputs stand at 394bhp and 396Nm respectively.

The upcoming Audi e-tron will be offered in two body styles (SUV and Sportbback) and three variants (50, 55 and 55 Sportback). The e-tron 55 and Sportback 55 will have 95kWh battery back and deliver a combined power of 402bhp and 664Nm of torque. The e-tron 50 will have a 71kWh battery offering power worth 308bhp and 540Nm of torque.
