Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric SUV – 4 Important Things to Know

Mercedes-Benz will soon introduce its all-electric sub-brand in India – the EQ. The German luxury carmaker is likely to launch its first all-electric SUV – the Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV – by the end of this month (September, 2020). Here, it will be brought via CBU (Completely Built Up) route and put up against the Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-tron. 1. Powertrain

The carmaker has confirmed that the Mercedes-Benz EQC will be made available in 400 4MATIC variant with two electric motors delivering a combined power output of 400bhp and 760Nm of torque. While the front electric motor offers higher efficiency during cruising, the rear one ensures great performance. Its modern flat 85kW lithium-ion battery pack is placed between the wheels. The electric SUV comes with five driver modes and AWD (all-wheel-drive) system. It’s claimed to offer an electric range of 400km on the WLTP cycle. The new Mercedes-Benz electric SUV can do 0 to 100kmph in just 5.1 seconds and attain a top speed of 180kmph.

2. Charging Options

The Mercedes-Benz EQC will be offered with three charging options – a 7.4 kW home electrical connection, 7.4 kW AC wall-box, and a 110 kW DC fast charger. One can fully charge its 80kWh battery in 21 hours via home electrical connection. With the AC wall-box and DC fast charger, it takes 10 hours and 90 minutes to get fully charged respectively. The DC fast charging facility will be provided by the carmaker at its all major dealerships. 3. Styling

The signature piano black grille and multibeam LED lights around the headlamps gives it an aggressive look. The electric SUV runs on 20-inch alloy wheels featuring blue details. The connected LED taillamps look like Porsche. Some of its other key highlights include air inlet with two chrome loveres in the lower area of the front apron, black lower bumper, side windows framed by high-gloss alumium trip strips and a low roof spoiler.

4. Premium Interior

The carmaker says that the Mercedes-Benz EQC electric SUV offers “high quality interior” and “pioneers an avant-grade electro-look”. It has a driver-oriented cockpit like instrument panel along with features such as multi-zone climate control, MBUX connectivity, infotainemtn system, leather seat upholstery, front seats with memeory function, paddle shifters for regen control, ambient lighting, new AC vents and many more.
