Under the hood, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain houses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that meets the BSVI emission norms. It can also run on the existing BSIV fuel. Paired to a 9-speed TRONIC automatic gearbox, it delivers a top power of 194hp against 400Nm of torque.
Power is delivered to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4Matic system. The new estate offers five driving modes including an ‘Individual’ and the ‘All-Terrain’ mode. It can accelerate 0-100kmph in 8.0 seconds and offer a top speed of 231kmph.
Compared to the standard model, the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain has 35mm higher ground clearance. Though, its length (4947mm) and wheelbase (2939mm) have been trimmed down by 116mm and 158mm respectively. With a longer rear overhang, it offers a boot space of 640litres. One can increase it up to 1820-litres by folding the rear seats into a 40:20:40 split ratio.
What differentiate the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain from the standard E-Class sedan are the 19-inch alloy wheels and the plastic cladding on the lower section of the bodywork and bumpers. Inside, the estate gets the Comand infotainment system, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and an electrically operated tailgate.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain has a powerful, unique appearance coupled with go-anywhere capability which differentiates All-Terrain from a classic estate. It features a range of technologies that enhances driving pleasure and offers unmatched luxury with rugged appeal. The All-Terrain has the elegance and luxury of an E-Class combined with the practicality and versatility of an SUV, with the go-anywhere capability of an off-roader.”
