Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan

Mercedes-Benz seems very aggressive with its strategies for the Indian car market. The company finally launched the performance oriented CLA 45 AMG and has announced that the regular variants of the CLA sedan will make its way to the country within 6 months. The Mercedes CLA Class will directly rival the Audi A3 sedan which is scheduled to go on sale on August 7. Speaking to media Mr, Eberhand Kern, Managing Director Mercedes-Benz India, said that the regular variants of the CLA sedan will be launched in next few months.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is basically the sedan version of the A-Class hatchback. The vehicle features a muscular front bumper, long bonnet with aggressive lines and a single slate chrome grille that accommodates Mercedes’ three-pointed star emblem. As an optional feature, the vehicle gets Bi-xenon headlights with integrated daytime running lamps. The vehicle gets sloping roof line which gives a coupe like profile. The rear profile components resemble the larger CLS.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA interiors largely resemble the A-Class hatchback, which is designed to target young enthusiasts. The cockpit features aircraft-inspired round Air con vents surrounded by chrome inserts, instrument cluster with four round analog gauges and three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel.

Under the bonnet the Mercedes-Benz CLA will get the same 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. While the petrol engine is capable of developing a top power output of 120bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm, the oil burner produces a top power output of 107bhp and 250Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
