Mercedes-Benz India seems to be betting big on its performance AMG products for the Indian car market. Past one year, the company introduced the G63 AMG, E63 AMG and the SLK55 AMG in the country and is all set to launch the GL63 AMG. Surprisingly, the German luxury carmaker has updated its official website with the CLA 45 AMG which was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. This step indicates that the company might soon come up with yet another AMG product in the form of CLA sedan.
The CLA 45 AMG is basically the performance version of the CLA saloon, which will make its way to the Indian car market by the end of 2014. Based on the A-Class platform, the CLA 45 AMG source most of its styling components with the A45 AMG. It will come to India via CBU route.
The compact sports sedan is powered by the 2.0-litre, direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that is capable of producing the top power output of 355bhp at 6000rpm and 450Nm of top torque. It accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 4.6 seconds and catches a top speed of 250kph, which is impressive. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox which sends the power to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The vehicle is equipped with several high end safety features including nine airbags, adaptive brake with hold function as well as Attention assist. This model is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 55-65 lakh.
