Mercedes Benz India added two new models-Mercedes-AMG G 63 ‘Edition 463’ and Mercedes Benz-AMG GLS 63 to its line of SUVs. With these two models in the range, Merc now offers a total of 8 SUVs in its product portfolio. Just so you know, both the models have been rolled out under its performance oriented sub-brand AMG.
Carrying a hefty price tag, the AMG G 633 ‘Edition 463’ is available for Rs 2.17 crores and the AMG GLS 63 starts from Rs 1.58 crores (ex-showroom, Pune). While the ‘Edition 63’ is a limited model of AMG G 63, the GLS 63 on the other hand is the quickest performance SUV in the segment claimed to propel from 0 to 100km/h within 4.6 seconds. The limited-edition AMG G 63 benefits from the supercharged 5.5-litre, V8 engine with 420kW at 5,500rpm and 760Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. Dishing out massive power output, the engine sprints AMG G 63 from rest to 100km/h within 5.4 seconds and attains electronically curbed top speed of 210km/h. Combining three 100% differential locks, an off-road reduction gear and Electronic Traction System 4ETS, the SUV is endowed with outstanding off-roading capabilities. Besides, it has a load capacity of up to 2250 litres and a robust towing capacity of up to 3500 kg.
On the outside, the AMG G 63 sports stainless steel under ride guard, AMG Sport strips on flanks, 21-inch, 5-twin spoke light alloy wheel finished in matt black with high-sheen rim flange and inserts in exterior protective strips in dark aluminium look. While on the inside it features single-tone dashboard in black designo leather, 2-tone leather seats, 2-tone centre console, AMG carbon-fibre trim, designo exclusive package and door centre panels in designo leather with diamond quilting. Claimed to be the quickest performance SUV in the segment, the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 derives power from a 5.5-litre, V8 Bi-Turbo engine with 430kW of maximum power and 760Nm of torque. Additionally, it gets the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM roll stabilisation offers high-level driving dynamics and comfort.
Exterior features a host of elements including the collapsible spare wheel, chrome fins, AMG body styling, EASY-PACK tailgate with power-operated opening, panoramic sliding sunroof and closing functions etc. Insides are packed with a raft of goodies such as the AMG performance steering wheel, temperature controlled cup holder, multicontour front seats with massage function, luxury head restraints and seat cushion depth adjustment. In addition, the cabin also gets thermotronic automatic climate control, Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system among others.
