Maruti Wagon R AMT, Stingray AMT Launched, Also Get Airbags and ABS

Buoyed with the success of the Alto K10 and Celerio AMT, Maruti Suzuki India has now introduced its Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology in the Wagon R and Wagon R Stingray. Besides this, the company has also offered optional driver and co-driver airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) across all variants of the hatchbacks.

The auto gearshift transmission with Intelligent Shift Control Actuator is available only on the VXi variants of the both the vehicles.

Just so you know, Maruti Suzuki, currently, offers Auto Gear shift in Celerio and Alto K10.

Maruti Exterior & Interior

Expect the new AMT gearbox and ‘AMT’ badge on the bootlid, the exterior and interior design of both the hatchbacks remain unchanged. Though, the company has now offered driver and co-driver airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) as optional offerings across all variants of the vehicles. Similar to the regular models, the new AMT model features a tall-boy design, blue tint headlamps, chromed grille, body-coloured bumpers and door handles, side body mouldings and other design elements. Inside, the car gets the regular dual-tone beige and black interior them with dual-tone 3D effect upholstery, electronic power steering, keyless central door locks, air conditioner with heater and rotary AC controls, etc.

Engine & Transmission

Powering the Wagon R AMT is the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that also does duty to the regular models. This powertrain is now paired to an auto gear shift (ASG) transmission, Magneti Marelli-sourced, coupled with an Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically performs clutch and shift operations. This system also optimizes ECU calibration of the engine, and enhances its fuel efficiency. This engine churns out a maximum power of 67bhp with a peak torque of 90Nm.

Mileage

The Maruti Wagon R AMT Automatic is claimed to return a fuel economy of 20.51kmpl. The with auto gear shift (ASG) technology with Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that regulates the clutch and shift operations, and optimizes engine’s ECU calibration, aid to the fuel efficiency of the vehicles.
