Maruti Vitara Brezza To Get SHVS Mild Hybrid Technology – Reports

The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol might get the new 1.5-litre K15B motor with SHVS mild hybrid technology.

It’s been a long time we have been waiting for the Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol. While the model hasn’t yet made its appearance anywhere, rumors mill is churning out interesting news. And the latest one says that the Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol will share its engine with the new Ciaz facelift. That means, the SUV will get the new 1.5-litre K15B motor with SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) mild hybrid technology. However, there is no official word on the same.

On the Ciaz, the new K15B gasoline unit delivers 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Earlier, the Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol was reported to come with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine that does duty in the performance-oriented Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS. With the new 1.5L K-Series petrol engine, the Maruti Vitara Brezza will be viable to taxes imposed over 1.2L motors. The petrol iteration of the SUV will be put up against the Ford EcoSport petrol and Tata Nexon petrol models.

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is available with the Fiat Multijet 1.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine that’s good for 89bhp and 200Nm. Transmission choices include a 5 speed manual and a 5 speed AMT (automated manual transmission). Prices of the SUV start from Rs 8.45 lakh for the entry-level VDi variant, and go all the way up to Rs 12.35 lakh for the range-topping ZDi Plus AMT Dual-tone trim. All prices are on-road, Delhi. The Indo-Japanese carmaker will also supply the Vitara Brezza SUV to Toyota under their joint partnership. Toyota will introduce the re-badged version of the vehicle and retail it via Maruti Suzuki’s dealerships. In this joint venture, the first model will be rolled out in the second quarter of 2019.
