Launched in March 2016, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been a turnaround product for the Indo-Japanese carmaker in the utility vehicle segment. In fact, the Maruti Suzuki dethroned Mahindra & Mahindra to become India’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer in May, 2017 – all thanks to Vitara Brezza.
Recently, the compact SUV has crossed 200,000 sales milestone in just 20 months of its launch. These sales figures show the kind of popularity the car has been enjoying in the domestic market.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki is selling the Vitara Brezza with an average of around 10,000 units per month. The compact SUV clocked one lakh sales milestone in less than a year. Despite vigorous production, the Vitara Brezza witnessed the high waiting period of over 20 weeks at a time. Though, the company managed to bring it down up to 17 weeks. Just so you know, the production of the SUV takes place at the carmaker’s Gurgaon plant.
Prices of the Maruti Vitara Brezza start from Rs 7.24 lakh for the base model and go up to Rs 9.69 lakh for the high-spec variant. Currently, the compact SUV is available with a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel powertrain paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This motor is capable to make power worth 89bhp (90PS) against 200Nm of toque.
The Indo-Japanese carmaker is planning to introduce petrol iteration of the Vitara Brezza along with an automatic variant. Powering the petrol model will be a 1.0-litre Boosterjet unit making 100.5bhp with 150Nm. This gasoline motor will be matched a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT (automated manual transmission) unit. Launch details of both the models are yet be revealed by the carmaker.
