Maruti Swift Gets Updated Touchscreen Infotainment System

2020 Maruti Swift Facelift Launch

The Indo-Japanese carmaker has silently introduced a new 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Studio infotainment system to its highly popular Maruti Swift hatchback lineup. The system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with the built-in navigation with live traffic update and voice command. It’s also compatible to Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in. No other changes have been made to the vehicle.

As of now, the hatchback comes with a 1.2L petrol engine that’s good enough for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission). In coming months, the existing 1.2L gasoline motor will be replaced with the BS6-compliant 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine that was recently introduced on the Dzire facelift.

The new Dualjet will be more powerful and fuel efficient than its replacement. In the new Dzire, the motor generates a peak power of 90PS and a maximum power of 113Nm. Its mileage figures stand at 23.26kmpl (MT) – 24.14kmpl (AT). Similar to the existing petrol engine, the new one will be offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options.

Reports suggest that the carmaker will replace the existing 1.2L K12B petrol engine with the new Dualjet unit in the WagonR hatchback and Ignis compact car. Talking about the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift, the model is likely to witness minor design changes along with a few new features. Exterior styling could be revised with new Dzire-inspired grille, updated front and rear bumpers, newly-designed fog lamps and a new set of alloy wheels.

The updated infotainment system will continue to be offered on the facelifted model. The hatchback might also receive ESC (electronic stability control) and hill hold assist as we have seen in the Dzire facelift. The auto folding outside rear view mirrors, multi-colour 4.2-inch multi information display for the instrument cluster might also be on offer.
