Maruti Suzuki India will launch the facelifted version of Swift and Swift Dzire in the country by the mid-2014. The company hasn’t revealed much about the changes but the updated Swift is already been on sale in Japan and some European nations. And the similar changes are expected on the Indian model. The similar updates will also be on offer with its sedan sibling. We reported earlier that the stocks for the Dzire automatic have already been exhausted and the company is planning to launch the new Dzire with AMT gearbox.

As of now, MSI imports the AMT gearbox; however, after receiving an overwhelming response for Celerio AMT the company is now planning to locally manufacture the gearbox. So, we expect that the Swift Dzire compact sedan with AMT gearbox could come by festive season or by year end. Moreover, MSI has the history of surprising industry by launching special editions, new variants of cars.

Maruti Swift Dzire is currently the country’s top selling compact sedan; however, it is facing tough competition from Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent. This entry level sedan segment will soon be joined by Tata Zest. Interestingly, the Zest will be the country’s first diesel car to get automated manual transmission and it is likely to cost less than the conventional auto variants. So, to counter the ZEST AMT, Maruti Suzuki India might soon introduce the Dzire AMT variant.
