Maruti Suzuki India has introduced a special edition of its popular hatchback – the Swift. Called the Maruti Swift DLX, this special edition is available on the entry-level LXi and LDi variants. Bookings for the special edition have already commenced across all dealerships. With some cosmetic upgrades and additional comfort features, the new model surely looks a more exciting package now.
|Variant||Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)|
|LXi||Rs 4.54 lakh|
|LDi||Rs 5.95 lakh|
On the exterior, the car gets blackened out B pillars, fog lamps and body-coloured ORVMs and door handles. More comprehensive changes have made inside the car, though. The new Swift limited edition is exclusively offered with a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, MID in the instrument console, front and rear power windows and front-door-mounted speakers.
Power source for the Maruti Swift DLX special edition include a 1.2-litre K-series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that also do duty on the regular models. The petrol mill belts out a maximum power of 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. The diesel mill, on the other hand, delivers power worth 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Transmission, too, remains unchanged i.e. 5-speed manual.
This special edition will help the carmaker maintain the Swift’s sales that saw a drop after the launch of the Baleno. However, the sales gap between these two vehicles narrowed in June 2016. Since the Swift is in its last phase of life cycle, Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce the new-generation model of the hatchback.
