The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift has been quite a sensation ever since its launch at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. Within ten weeks of its arrival, the hatchback received 1 lakh cumulative booking implying an average booking of one unit per minute. Now, the new Swift has achieved sales milestone of one lakh units in the country. It’s the fastest number attained by any passenger vehicle in India.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift was first launched in 2005, and till date the carmaker has sold over 1.89 million units in the country. Interestingly, the hatchback is also the company’s 20 millionth vehicle rolled out from Maruti Suzuki’s Sanand-based plant.
The company’s internal research shows that the new Swift has been appreciated for its new sporty design, advanced safety features, enhanced performance and a strong brand legacy. Designed on Suzuki’s 5th generation HEARTECT platform, the 2018 Swift has witnessed comprehensive design and feature changes along with the new Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology.
