Maruti Suzuki Zen Is Coming Back To India – New Details Emerge

2019 Maruti Zen Launch

The next-gen Maruti Suzuki ZEN will be a micro SUV based on the Future S Concept

Car manufacturers in India are readying the BSVI compliant models of their existing line-up. In order to keep the sales momentum, brands are introducing mid-life facelifts before the new emission norms arrives in 2020. The companies are also investing into introducing electric cars in the Indian market. India’s leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is also planning to launch a range of new cars with BSVI compliance before April 2020 deadline.

The Indo-Japanese brand is also planning to revive the iconic “Maruti ZEN” nameplate in India. If media report is to be believed, the next ZEN will come in the form of a micro SUV. In the past, Maruti Suzuki had revived the Baleno brand which is now the best-selling model in its category.

The new report claims that the company has received a positive response to the Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept. Maruti Suzuki is developing a micro SUV based on this crossover concept. The new SUV will sit below the Vitara Brezza and will be brand’s youngest SUV in the product portfolio. The report further suggests that the new crossover will be future ready with electrification option right from the word go.

The Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept has been designed and developed in India at the company’s R&D centre. The company is yet to start testing the micro SUV, which suggests that the launch is not going to happen in the first half of 2019. A possible launch in late 2019 or in the first quarter of 2020 can’t be ignored.

Not just ZEN, iconic brands like Hyundai Santro and Honda Civic will soon make their re-entry into the Indian market. Adding to it, PSA Group in collaboration with CK Birla group is planning to bring back the iconic Ambassador nameplate in India.
