We reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new premium hatchback- Codenamed YRA’ in the country by the end of 2015. Clear interior and exterior images of the premium hatchback has been revealed on the interweb. It will be a global model, and has been spotted testing again in European and Indian markets.
The Suzuki YRA Premium hatchback will share its styling with other Maruti’s including Swift hatchback. The front features a V-shaped honeycomb grille which is complemented by sweptback headlamps. The simple looking bumper accommodates wide air dam and new fog lamps. At the back, the hatchback features a notchback-like bootlid. The low roofline gives it a coupe like design, while the taillamps at the back are positioned at the corners.
The spotted vehicle is a left-hand drive model, which is likely to be sourced from Europe for R&D and testing purpose. Its instrument cluster gets white and blue colour, and features a central multi-information display. The vehicle seems to be a petrol model.
The newly formulated dashboard features a large touchscreen unit which is complemented by vertically positioned AC vents with silver accents. Right below the dashboard are the controls for the automatic climate control system and hazard lights. This hatchback will compete against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Fiat Punto Evo.
This hatchback will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The petrol engines are likely to be the new 1.0L turbocharged unit, 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.4L unit that also powers the Ciaz sedan, while the oil burner would be the tried & trusted 1.3L MJD. The company might also use the 1.5L multi-jet unit, which is basically the downsized version of the 1.6L MJD.
