Maruti Suzuki WagonR Turns 20 In India; 24 Lakh Units Sold

First launched in 1999, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR has now completed 20 years in the Indian market. The carmaker has revealed that the hatchback achieved a 24 lakh sales milestone so far. The first 1 lakh units of the WagonR were sold by 2004. In 2006, the Indo-Japanese carmaker had rolled out the Duo LPG with 1.0L Bi-fuel options, followed by the generation change in 2010. After 3 years, the company brought in the WagonR Stingray, which was discontinued in 2017. In the same year, the hatchback crossed 20 lakh sales mark.

New Maruti WagonR 2019 Specifications

Maruti’s tall boy has always been favoured for its spacious interior, practicality and efficient powertrains. Its latest version (third-generation) underpins Suzuki’s new Heartect platform, thus making it lighter and safer than before. In June 2019, the company introduced the BS6 compliant Maruti WagonR with a 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine that’s good for 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. It also comes with a 67bhp, 1.0L petrol and a 1.0L CNG kit options. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional AMT or Auto Gear Shift (AGS) unit.
