Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning to launch a wide range of new SUVs in the Indian market in the next couple of years. The company is expected to launch 5 new SUVs with one new product every six months till 2023.
It is reported that “Maruti Suzuki will have one model at a price gap of Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000, like the Indo-Japanese brand have in the hatchback segment.” The company will first launch an all-new MPV, which is co-developed by Toyota-Suzuki’s alliance. Toyota will also introduce a new MPV based on the same platform. The new model will be launched in the second half of 2021.
The company is also working on the next-gen Vitara Brezza, which is expected to be launched in the first half of 2022. The new model will be pitted against the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV300. In the second half of 2022, Maruti Suzuki is aiming to introduce a mid-sized SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Sonet.
The second half of 2022 will see the launch of a mid-sized SUV that will rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Sonet. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki is also readying a crossover to rival the Tata Nexon. This compact crossover is rumoured to be launched in the second half of 2022. Maruti Suzuki is also readying the 5-door Jimny SUV, which is likely to be launched in the first half of 2023.
Before these SUVs, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the next-gen Celerio hatchback and the next-gen Alto. Both models have already been caught testing. The next-gen Celerio is rumoured to be launched before the end of this year, while the next-gen Alto will arrive in the first half of 2021. Both models will be based on the new HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Wagon R and the S-Presso.
