Maruti Suzuki To Launch 3 Differently Styled Sub-4 Meter SUVs In India

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce a wide range of new SUVs in the country in the next 1-2 years. This year, the company will launch two new SUVs – the new Brezza and a mid-sized SUV, codenamed YFG. Interestingly, MSIL is also preparing two differently styled sub-4 meter SUVs. These SUVs will be launched in 2023 and will be sold alongside the new Brezza.

1. New Maruti Brezza

2022 Maruti Brezza Launch

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new Brezza in the country on June 30, 2022. The new model will come with all-new design and feature-loaded interior along with new engine-gearbox options. The SUV will be based on the modified Global C platform that underpins the current model and the S-Cross.

The new Brezza will come equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, a semi-digital instrument console, an automatic AC with rear AC vents, cruise control, a factory-fitted electric sunroof and many more. The new model will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV will also receive a CNG version, which will get the same 1.5L petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. It will get a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Jimny lifestyle SUV in the country in 2023. The new model will be based on the ladder-on-frame chassis. The India-spec model will be a 5-seater SUV, which will be based on the long wheelbase version of the Sierra SUV. The SUV is reportedly to be launched in the first quarter of FY23-24, between April to June 2023. It is expected that the Jimny 5-door SUV will make its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. It will sit under 4 meters in length and will be significantly cheaper than the Mahindra Thar 3-door.

The new Jimny will be powered by a 105PS, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, K15C petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. Based on the ladder frame chassis, the new Jimny 5-door will get low range transfer gear and 3-link rigid axle suspension along with Suzuki’s Allgrip Pro 4-wheel drive system. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be on offer.

3. Maruti YTB Coupe SUV

Maruti Suzuki is preparing a new compact SUV, codenamed YTB which will be positioned alongside the Vitara Brezza. Expected to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo, the new Maruti YTB is expected to be the production version of the Futuro e-Concept. It is likely to be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno. It is reportedly to be the sportiest Maruti SUV, and will have a more SUV-coupe design. To be sold through NEXA dealerships, the new YTB Crossover will be positioned against the higher-spec variants of the Venue, Sonet and the XUV300. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5L K15C petrol engine with a stronger hybrid with a greater degree of electrification.
