Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has confirmed that it will launch two new models in the next fiscal year (2019-20). While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed names of the products, it’s likely to be the global SUV Vitara and the production version of the Future S concept that was previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo. If reports are to be believed, one of the new models could be retailed via Nexa dealerships and the other one via Arean outlets.

Besides this, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will also upgrade safety quotient of its existing models by June 2019. The company will equip its vehicles with safety features such as reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder and airbags..

Just so you know, the aforementioned features will be mandatory for all four-wheelers from July 1, 2019. Safety regulations such as frontal, offset and side impact will be implemented on the existing models from 1st October, 2019. The pedestrian safety regulations, on the other hand, will come into effect for all passenger vehicles from 1st October, 2020.

As of now, Maruti Suzuki is doing final launch preparations for the new-generation WagonR hatchback that’s slated to go on sale on 23rd January, 2019. The hatchback’s new model will witness some major cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a new 1.2L petrol engine.

Dimensions will also be revised. The new Maruti WagonR 2019 will be 19mm longer and 125mm wider than the outgoing model. Its wheelbase, too, has been stretched by 35mm. The new model offers 85mm extra cabin space.
