With the growing popularity of performance oriented cars, car manufacturers are planning to introduce their powerful versions of their popular cars in the country. We have already seen Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and Toyota Etios Liva TRD Sportivo, while Hyundai is planning to launch the performance version of the i20 hatchback in the country. India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti could also bring in the Swift Sport to mark its presence in this hot hatchback segment.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport made its debut at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and it is expected that Maruti will launch this performance product in the country. The Swift Sport gets an aggressive and prominent road presence. At the front, the vehicle sports new grille which is fitted with big and distinguished finned fog lamp bezel. The vehicle features high-intensity discharge headlamps which come with a metallic-Grey coating, while the rear end gets cylindrical shaped tail lamps.
The Suzuki Swift Sport is powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 100PS at 6900rpm and a peak torque of 160Nm at 4,400rpm. It catches a top speed of 193kmph and accelerates to 100kmph from rest in just 8.7 seconds, which is quite impressive. This model is claimed to return an impressive mileage of 15.6kmpl in EU cycle.
While Suzuki Swift Sport is offered in three door configuration, the Indian model will be the five-door model. This hot hatch is equipped with high end safety features including Anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, airbags for driver and co-driver, side, curtain and driver knee airbags, and others. The other features include HID projector headlights with headlamps washers, electrically adjustable ORVMs, automatic headlights, keyless entry and engine start/stop button, etc.
