Maruti Suzuki Swift RS To Be Sold Via NEXA Dealerships – Report

The Maruti Suzuki Swift RS might go on sale by the end of this fiscal year.

Maruti Suzuki is considering the performance-oriented Swift hatchback for the Indian market. Called the Maruti Suzuki Swift RS, the hot hatch is reported to be retailed exclusively via premium NEXA dealerships. The India launch of the Swift RS is likely to happen by the end of this fiscal year – i.e. before March, 2019.

Under the hood, the Maruti Swift RS will feature a 1.0L, three-cylinder Boosterjet petrol engine sourced from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS. There will be a 5-speed manual gearbox to deliver power to the front wheels. The Boosterjet powertrain is capable to achieve 100kmph from standstill in 11 to 12 seconds. The hot-hatch will deliver a maximum speed of 160kmph.

Talking about the design, the Maruti Swift RS will feature new body graphics, re-designed bumpers, side skirts and a roof mounted spoiler. The 16-inch alloy wheels add more to its sporty looks and performance. The suspension system has also been tuned for delivering better driving experience. Interior will also see significant changes including all-black treatment with RS badging and sporty seats. You will notice sporty Burning Red trims on the central console, instrument cluster, front doors and steering wheel.

In India, the Maruti Swift RS will take on the Tata Tiago JTP that costs Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Though, the former is estimated to be priced around Rs 8 lakh that will make it a more expensive deal than the latter.
