Maruti Suzuki India will launch the S-Cross SX4 in the country by early next year. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show in concept form, the S-Cross will compete against the likes of Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. With this vehicle, India’s largest car manufacture will make its entry in the growing mid-sized crossover SUV segment. This crossover gets a series of updates before it introduced in the Indian car market. It features a crossover type styling instead of the upright SUV stance. This crossover SUV sports high ground clearance, black plastic cladding all the around the body and metal scuff under the bumpers. The company might also introduce the ‘Allgrip’ all-wheel drive system with the S-Cross.
Maruti Suzuki India’s crossover SUV measures 4,300mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,575mm in height, and it has a large wheelbase of 2,600mm. The top-of-the line variant is likely to get the LED daytime running lamps and leather wrapped steering wheel and seats. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 16-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle will share its interior components with other Maruti cars. It is equipped with features like dual-tone theme, air-con vents, power steering with music controls mounted on it, which are directly lifted from its smaller siblings like Swift and Ertiga.
The Suzuki S-Cross SX4 will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the oil burner will get Fiat’s sourced 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel mill that produces 118bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm, the gasoline version features the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 120bhp and 156Nm of torque. Both the engines will be paired to a six-speed manual transmission gearbox.
