Maruti Suzuki has recently forayed into the mid-size SUV space with the all-new Grand Vitara. And since the segment was hotly contested with prominent players like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq, the carmaker has taken a unique approach to make it stand out from the crowd. That said, it equipped the SUV with a plethora of premium features and the segment’s first self-charging strong hybrid powertrain and AWD drivetrain options.
The following is a breakdown of the features offered in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, so you can decide which variant is right for you. But first, have a look at its specifications: –
Hybrid Type | Mild-Hybrid | Strong-Hybrid |
Engine | 1.5-litre K15C petrol | 1.5-litre TNGA petrol |
Cylinders | 4 | 3 |
Max Power Output | 103PS | 116PS (combined) |
Max Torque Output | 137Nm | Engine: 122Nm, Motor: 144Nm |
Transmission | 5-speed MT / 6-speed AT | e-CVT |

Claimed Mileage | 21.11kmpl (MT), 20.58kmpl (AT), 19.38kmpl (AWD) | 27.97kmpl |
- The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara comes with two engine options: 1.5-litre petrol with 48V mild-hybrid system and Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre petrol with self-charging strong hybrid petrol. The former is the same unit that also powers the new Brezza, Ertiga, and XL6.
- Its manual version also comes with Suzuki’s AllGrip Select AWD system that features four driving modes – AUTO, SPORT, SNOW, and LOCK, enabling you to discover unexplored terrains. It comprises an electronic control module that monitors slippage based on various parameters, such as throttle opening position, steering angle, etc., and spread torque accordingly.
- Both powertrains are extremely frugal, and its hybrid version leads the segment’s chart.
Dimensions
The Grand Vitara measures 4345mm in length (longest in its class), 1795mm in width, and 1645mm in height, and possesses a wheelbase of 2600mm. At 210mm, its ground clearance is also greater than its competitors. However, its 355-liters of boot space (255-liters in strong-hybrid variants) will disappoint you.
