Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Petrol Gets BS6-Ready Engine; Prices Increased
After the Maruti Suzuki Swift (petrol) and WagonR, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has now rolled out the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with a BS6 (Bharat Stage VI) compliant petrol engine. The updated model is now available with the BS6-ready 1.5L VVT petrol engine that’s good for 104bhp and 138Nm. With the new updates, the prices of the MPV have also been increased. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga now comes in the price range of Rs 7.54 lakh to Rs 10.05 lakh (ex-showroom).
Recently, the carmaker added two new CNG variants to the Ertiga model lineup. While the Ertiga CNG VXi trim is priced at Rs 8.88 lakh, the Tour M CNG variant costs Rs 8.83 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The Indo-Japanese carmaker will soon introduce a 6-seater version of the MPV, called Maruti Suzuki XL6. The model is slated to go on sale on coming 21st August.
Unlike the regular Ertiga MPV that’s retailed via Arena dealerships, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be sold via Nexa sales and service network. It will be made available with a new 1.5L K15B petrol engine boosted with SHVS mild hybrid technology. There will be two transmissions on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
The carmaker is also working on the electric MPV that will be based on the Ertiga and launched under the Suzuki-Toyota alliance. The MPV’s electric iteration will receive some dimensional and carry a different nameplate.
