Launched in October 2014, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is, currently, the second highest-selling mid-sized sedan in the country after the Honda City. The mid-sized premium sedan, currently, sells more units than the Hyundai Verna – the erstwhile segment leader. Available in a total of 11 variants, the vehicle is priced in the range of Rs. 7.13 lakh – Rs. 10.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Though the introductory price for the car was Rs. 6.99 lakh.

Dimensions
Based on the Suzuki Authentics concept, the Ciaz sedan competes against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Fiat Linea, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and others in the C-segment. It is bigger than the car it replaces – the SX4. The vehicle measures 4490mm in length, 1730mm in width and 1485mm in height, and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2650mm. It comes with a decent ground clearance of 170mm, which is more than sufficient to drive the vehicle through rugged Indian roads.

Maruti Suzuki is offering the Ciaz saloon in both petrol and diesel fuel options. Its gasoline model features a 1.4-litre K Series petrol engine that is capable of producing 92PS and 130Nm of top torque. The diesel engine is the tried & trusted 1.3-litre Fiat’s Multi-Jet that develops 90PS and 200Nm of top torque. Both the engines are coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, while the top-spec petrol model gets 4-speed automatic transmission as well. The Ciaz is claimed to be the country’s most fuel efficient car. The diesel model returns an impressive fuel economy of 26.2kmpl, while the gasoline motor delivers 20.7kmpl.
