Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the much-awaited Ciaz aka Alivio sedan in the country by festive season (September-October) while bookings are expected to commence soon. We reported earlier that the production of the SX4 sedan has been stopped and the company has reportedly started the trial production of the Ciaz sedan at the company’s Manesar production unit. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the Ciaz saloon will come as a replacement for the SX4.

The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will compete against the likes of new Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Renault Scala, Volkswagen Vento and Ford Fiesta facelift. The mid-sized sedan segment is currently dominating the C-segment that defeated the Verna since its introduction in December 2013. The new model looks appealing than the aging SX4 and is likely to be equipped with several high end features.

The Suzuki Ciaz sedan sports trapezoidal grille with chrome embellishment that accommodates the Suzuki logo. Its chrome grille is flanked by large angular shaped projector headlamps which add to its sporty character. The carved out bumper features wide air dams and a pair of fog lamps. The side profile of the sedan has aerodynamic creases running across the length.

The petrol Suzuki Ciaz is likely to be powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series four-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 93.6bhp and a peak torque of 130Nm. Its oil burner will feature the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multi-jet engine developing 89bhp and 200Nm of top torque. Both the engines are paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox while the petrol version also gets CVT gearbox.
