Maruti Suzuki will start dispatching the Celerio diesel to its dealers across India from mid May onwards, while the launch is expected to happen sometime by the end of the month or early June 2015. The vehicle’s production is on full wing and the company has already prepared the first batch of the car. Unlike everyone’s expectation, the Celerio diesel might initially come with a 5-speed manual gearbox and not the AMT. AMT might be installed at a later stage.
The pre-bookings for the car might also begin very soon. The small car already seems to be riding the charts on account of its Automated Manual transmission, impressive mileage figures, competitive pricing, and low maintenance costs.
The engine that powers the Celerio diesel is a 793cc 2-cylinder unit that will power several other small Maruti Cars in future. Much like its siblings, the diesel version of this car will get three variants – Ldi, VDi, and ZDi. Apart from fuel efficiency, the carmaker also seems inclined towards safety measures which is why it plans to offer ABS as an optional feature even in the lower end variant. But the point worth noticing here is, that post this modification, Celerio might become the most fuel efficient hatchback in India with an expected mileage figure of 30kmpl.

Exterior and Interior Design
No major changes have been reported on design front for this new version. So, it is safe to assume that interiors as well as exteriors of Celerio’s diesel iteration will be similar to the existing ones. Aesthetically, you may expect larger headlamps with multiple reflectors guarding a robust radiator grille with some extra chrome. Except for the lower end version, the other two are bound to receive fog lamps, door handles with chrome tinge, and body toned bumpers.
Similarly, on the rear end, there isn’t much to look forward to except for DDiS badges, taller brake lamps, and a fused spoiler. The interiors too are supposed to be identical to gasoline version and Maruti’s cost conscious designing style is bound to show up here as well.
Engine Specs and Power
This is the zone where the major changes will be taking place as post this alteration Celerio is bound to become the most fuel efficient car in India with a mileage record of 30kmpl. The twin cylinder 793cc mill will be emanating power worth 58bhp of power, along with peak torque of 150Nm. On transmission front, it will be carrying the most talked about AMT which uses hydraulic actuator for gear shifting.
Expected Price in India
There are rumors that Maruti is looking forward to get this version on roads by October 2015. Being a lower end hatchback, its price figures are expected to be somewhere between Rs.4.1 – 5.8 lakhs.
Mileage (Expected) – 30kmpl
Expected Launch Date – May, June 2015
