Maruti WagonR crossover might come with a 67bhp, 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine that also powers the regular WagonR model.
If the Maruti Wagon R XRest crossover comes to India, it will compete against the upcoming Chevrolet Beat Activ.
PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) will unveil the Suzuki WagonR crossover at the Jakarta Fair 2016, claims a report. The Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) will be held from 10th June to 17th July, 2016 in Indonesia. Though there is no clarity whether this model will be exclusively sold in the Indonesian market or introduced overseas where WagonR hatchback is already on sale. This crossover had already made its India debut as Maruti Wagon R XRest at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
Cars like Renault Kwid and Datsun RediGo offer a perfect blend of compact design with SUV-ish characters, and have changed buyers’ preferences in the Indian market. So, it makes sense for Maruti Suzuki to bring the WagonR Crossover to India as well. If the Maruti Wagon R XRest crossover comes to India, it will compete against the upcoming Chevrolet Beat Activ.
The Maruti WagonR XRest crossover gets black plastic moldings all over the lower side of the body and sliver skid guards on the front, rear and sides. The car also features projector headlamps, a new grille, LED taillights and faux air vents on both front fenders. Moving to the engine, the Maruti WagonR crossover is likely to come with a 1.0-litre K10 engine that also does duty in the regular WagonR model. On hatchback, this powertrain produces a maximum power of 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. While a 5-speed manual transmission might come as standard, an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox could be optional.
