Maruti Suzuki Betting Big On Grand Vitara – Launch In Last Week of Sep

Maruti Suzuki aims to increase its market share in the SUV segment in the coming years. In order to achieve its target, the company has planned several new models including the Grand Vitara, Baleno Cross, 5-door Jimny and more. The Indo-Japanese automaker is betting big on the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Grand Vitara that will challenge the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Maruti’s new mid-size SUV is slated to hit roads in the last week of September 2022.

Speaking to an online media publication, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director of Maruti Suzuki, said that the company’s market share in the non-SUV space is over 65 per cent while it isn’t big in the SUV segment. The automaker’s major objective is to increase the overall market share to 50 per cent, which is currently under 45 per cent.

Maruti Grand Vitara Features

The Maruti Grand Vitara SUV will come in 6 trims, namely, Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta+, Alpha and Alpha+. Buyers will have two hybrid powertrains to choose from – 1.5L K15C mild hybrid and 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle. The carmaker has confirmed that its strong hybrid model is high in-demand with 44 per cent of the total bookings. The new Maruti mid-size SUV has gathered over 50,000 bookings even before its market launch.

The mild hybrid powertrain delivers power worth 103bhp and 137Nm of torque and the strong hybrid setup makes 115bhp. There are three gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and an eCVT. One must note that Suzuki’s All-Grip AWD system will be available only on the Alpha manual variant. Mileage figures of the new Grand Vitara SUV stand at 21.11kmpl (2WD manual), 20.58kmpl (2WD automatic) and 19.38kmpl (AWD variants) and 27.97kmpl (strong hybrid with eCVT).

Talking about the colour options, the new Maruti Grand Vitara will be made available in 3 dual-tone and 6 monotone paint schemes. It includes Arctic White with Black roof, Opulent Red with Black roof and Splendid Silver with Black roof. The single-tone palette includes Nexa Blue, Chestnut Brown, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver and Opulent Red.
